Sumit Sen, AMFT
ph. 707-296-6394
I am a proud husband and father. I was born and raised in India. I came to the USA in 1992. I achieve my BA in English/ Philosophy. I have Master of Divinity and Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have served as a pastor for over 20 years. I have also served as a Hospice and Jail Chaplain. I have had many years of experience working with people from all walks of life. As an immigrant and a person of color I understand prejudice-related trauma. As a pastor my heart breaks when I hear stories of spiritual and other forms of abuses suffered by people in religious institutions. I have spent years walking alongside people grieving losses, struggling with addictions and experiencing relational conflict.
As a therapist I am learning to use an integrative therapy approach that blends multiple therapeutic techniques and theories (such as CBT, Narrative and EFT) to work with my clients. While I am good at listening and asking questions with a sincere desire to understand, I also embrace a directive approach to therapy.
If you choose to have me walk with you as a therapist my commitment to you is this: I will work with you in the most non-judgmental and honest way possible. I always want you to feel heard and will check in to make sure I am understanding you. I may push against areas that make you uncomfortable, but I will always do so to help you move towards your goals. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you.
